LA VAL Albariño
La Val Albariño is a wine that combines characteristics of three types of soils of Rías Baixas, highlighting acidity, fruitiness and minerality. The manual harvest and fermentation in stainless steel tanks produce a wine with notes of fruit, fresh herbs and a floral and saline background. It presents a good structure in the mouth, with freshness, balance and a saline and slightly bitter finish.
Vineyard Characteristics
This wine brings together the character of the winery’s various vineyards, reflecting their diversity and balance. The Taboexa vineyard, with its granitic character, contributes freshness and aromatic expressiveness; Arantei, with its alluvial soils, adds structure and body on the palate; and Vilachán, on schist, imparts a pronounced minerality. Together, they create a harmonious profile that clearly reflects the Atlantic character of Albariño
Winemaking Characteristics
The grapes were harvested by hand into 20-kg crates. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes underwent pre-cooling before processing began. Vinification was carried out separately according to the grapes’ origin: 80% of the grapes were destemmed, while the remaining percentage was pressed directly as whole clusters, with the aim of preserving the integrity of the must and minimizing oxidation. Subsequently, a rigorous selection of the free-run musts was carried out.
Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at 16 °C, with a small proportion (3%) in concrete vats. After devatting, the wine remained in contact with its fine lees for six months in those same vats.
Vintage Information
The 2025 vintage was marked by lower water availability compared to the previous year, with a dry and hot summer characterized by scarce rainfall and high temperatures. Following a rainy April, the drier conditions favored balanced vine development.
Rain fell in the weeks leading up to the harvest, requiring special attention during the picking process. Nevertheless, we were able to harvest grapes in good health and with a balanced profile, reflecting a growing season marked by contrasting conditions.
Tasting Notes
La Val Albariño displays an attractive straw-yellow color with greenish hues. On the nose, it is clean and expressive, with good aromatic intensity and a clear prominence of white and stone fruits (apple, peach), accompanied by hints of citrus, scrubland, and a delicate floral undertone. On the palate, it is balanced, enveloping, and vibrant. The fruity and citrus notes stand out once again, in a harmonious progression that leads to a persistent, fresh finish with an elegant saline character.
