Characteristics of the vineyard

This is a historic vineyard for the Viñedos del Contino property. Its more than 60 years of history have been marked under the watchful eye of the characteristic millenary olive tree. A medium terrace, of excellent quality for the production of wine for aging. Formed by clay-limestone soils with medium stoniness, thanks to the proximity of the Ebro River. Due to the age of its plants, some rows of Grenache are interspersed among the historic Tempranillo.

Winemaking characteristics

Spontaneous fermentation in 100 Hl. French oak vats at controlled temperatures. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in concrete tanks, and once this is completed, the wine is transferred to new barrels (70% of the barrels) and second use barrels (the remaining 30%), 90% of which are French and 10% American, where it remains for 18 months of barrel aging. After this period it is transferred to a wooden vat for 3 months, achieving a total refinement until it is bottled.
