Characteristics of the vineyard
Regueirón is the name of the 0.42 ha plot from which the grapes for this wine come from. It is located in the easternmost area of Valdeorras, on the terraces of our vineyards in the village of Entoma - Val do Galir. South and southeast facing, with a 40% slope that favors good sun exposure and aeration, and clay loam and slate soils.
Earlier ripening, but with a marked Atlantic character due to its good acidity.
The soils are deep, but with good nutrient and mineral retention. Part of the minerals supplied to the roots are favored by the decomposition by erosion of the superficial slate.
Sustainable viticulture is carried out.
Winemaking characteristics
Manual harvest in 15 kg boxes, maceration in cold storage for 24 hours, selection table before pneumatic pressing prior to obtaining the must and fermentation in new French oak barrels (500 liters) and foudre, 11 months of aging between barrels and foudre. Fermentation with autochthonous yeast.
Harvest data
The 2023 vintage in Val do Galir was the earliest in the history of Valdeorras. Regueirón 2023 was harvested on September 10 just before the rains, and was able to withstand the high temperatures better than other plots due to its high leaf density, which served as a hat for the clusters. The vineyard is almost 30 years old.
Low yields as a result of the drought.
Tasting notes
Straw yellow color with a clean, bright greenish rim.
The nose is intense, delicate, complex with hints of scrubland, floral and mineral.
Fresh in the mouth, with nerve and persistence.
