Bela Gran Vino de Rueda

75cl Bottle - 2022

Bela Gran Vino de Rueda is made from Verdejo grapes from vineyards over 30 years old in sandy and clay-loam soils at 720 m altitude. Fermented in stainless steel and aged on the lees for six months, the wine stands out for its freshness and complexity. The 2022 vintage, with high temperatures and low rainfall, resulted in a bright, golden wine with tropical and citrus fruit aromas and a balanced, persistent palate.

Characteristics of the vineyard

The grapes destined for the Gran Vino de Rueda category come from exclusive vineyards over 30 years old with a production of less than 6,500 kg/ha.

Winemaking characteristics

The winemaking method requires a selection in the field by hand harvesting in boxes that are taken to a cold room for refrigeration. Subsequently, the grapes are also processed manually using a sorting table, while they are sent to a state-of-the-art small-volume press.

The must is extracted and transferred to stainless steel tanks where it undergoes alcoholic fermentation, after which the wine is racked into 400-liter French oak barrels where it is aged for 5 months on the lees.

Harvest data

The 2022 harvest begins on August 16 and ends on October 16.

This harvest will go down in history for having been the earliest and the longest in history to date, with grapes of great quality thanks to the optimum sanitary condition caused by the good weather.

As always, the grapes entered the winery in an orderly, staggered and very punctual manner according to the required ripening indexes.

According to the Rueda Appellation of Origin Board, the high quality of the grapes augurs very good prospects for the 2022 vintage.

Tasting notes

Perception of light greenish reminiscences in a pale yellow.

Good aromatic intensity and complexity, highlighting herbaceous and mineral notes intertwined with stone fruit and aniseed, all very well assembled with spices, brioche and fine butter coming from aging on lees in French oak.

On the palate it has a smooth, unctuous entry that envelops the palate making it a balanced wine with a pleasant bitter finish, typical of the Verdejo variety. The aftertaste is long and with a certain complexity.

Ideal pairing, rice dishes, white meats, fish, seafood, pâtés and naturally as an aperitif.

Recommended serving temperature 8 to 10ºC.
