High Council Volume 1
Volume 1 is the best expression of Rioja Alta, a unique, exclusive and limited production red wine that we love because it reflects like few others the essence and the exceptional terroir of this emblematic area. It has been produced by Consejo de la Alta, a winery with a story that deserves to be told. You can't pass it up.
Each of our trips to Rioja is a search, an exploration among vineyards and wineries that hide their wines as the best kept secrets. Our mission is to find them and discover them to all our customers. Because in Vinoselección we love wines with soul, those that tell us a story and reflect the feeling of a territory. This is how in one of our visits to Cenicero we came across Consejo de la Alta, a small winery that works with passion between two territories: Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa. From the first day, their philosophy and their wines won us over and we wanted to work with them. It is not easy to find wineries that maintain such a careful and limited production. That is why, since that first meeting, we have patiently followed their evolution, waiting for the exact moment to share their essence with you. That moment has arrived with Volumen 1 2021.
Volume 1 2021 is much more than a wine; it is the first chapter of a story that we feel is deeply ours. It represents the beginning of a collection in which each vintage will tell its own narrative, reflecting the diversity and richness of its origin. In Rioja, the land is the guiding thread, and the soils, its identity. Born in Rioja Alta, Volume 1 2021 embodies the essence of a privileged area, characterized by its Atlantic-influenced climate and clay-limestone soils that imprint structure and freshness on its wines. A Tempranillo that reflects its environment with its own personality, with elegance and balance, freshness and depth, and that you will only find in Vinoselección, as it is exclusive and of limited production.
Volume 1 2021 pairs perfectly with noble cuts of Iberian pork, such as roast pork or braised pork cheeks.
Stay tuned, because this Volume 1 is just the beginning of a collection that will evolve over time, and will find a second step in another red wine born in Rioja Alavesa. But this is another story, because there are stories that are not only told, but also drunk.
Tasting notes
Beautiful ripe cherry red cherry color with garnet rim. Aromatic profile with a perfect balance between fruity notes: cherries, blackberries and currants and the notes provided by barrel aging: hints of vanilla and soft toasted and cedar notes.
In the mouth it is tasty, medium-bodied and very balanced; ripe tannins provide a pleasant and smooth mouthfeel. Taste is dominated by ripe fruit sensations and a soft spicy echo.
Good final persistence marked by a toasted and softly smoked memory.
