Cune Crianza

Bottle 75cl - 2021

Cune Crianza has been made annually since its launch, with grapes sourced from vineyards in Rioja Alta, some of our own and others from local suppliers with whom CVNE has worked for generations. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, followed by aging in American oak barrels for one year, which gives it its distinctive aromatic balance and finesse.

Characteristics of the vineyard

The vineyards are located in the Rioja Alta, close to CVNE, which means that the grapes arrive intact at the winery to be processed in the best conditions.

Approximately half are our own vineyards located in Haro and nearby villages and the rest of the grapes are purchased from local growers. For generations we have relied on these suppliers for the production of Cune crianza and every year we monitor and advise them from the technical team of CVNE.

The grapes come from different sites with a diversity of soils, orientations, conduction systems and ages. Cune crianza is an assemblage wine that year after year reflects its own style.

Winemaking characteristics

Alcoholic fermentation takes place in 20,000 kg stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 25 and 27ºC in order to preserve the fruit that characterizes this wine.

Daily pumping over and two delestages are carried out during maceration. After vatting for about 12 days we separate the press and the malolactic fermentation takes place in tank. The wine is aged in used American oak barrels (various wines) for one year, during which time it acquires the aromatic balance that characterizes it, as well as its finesse and overall expression.

Harvest data

The harvest at CVNE begins on September 8 and ends on October 10.

The weather in Rioja during the 2021 growing season was very varied. The summer began very dry but the rains in September were decisive for a very positive evolution. In the high and aerated areas, as well as in the vineyards of low and medium production, the grapes improved notably with the help of these rains. Perfect weather in October, with sunny, bright days followed by very cold nights, led to slow ripening.

Tasting notes

Garnet color with medium depth of color.

Good aromatic intensity highlighting the forest fruits and licorice that are complemented in a perfect balance with vanilla and toasted notes from the American oak barrels.

On the palate it is a balanced and round wine, with a sweet and pleasant finish.

A good companion to the Mediterranean diet.

Serving temperature 16-18ºC.
