Characteristics of the vineyard
Viura variety from our own 20 year old vineyards located in Rioja Alta and complemented with vineyards from regular suppliers in different sub-zones. The complexity is given by the different altitudes, orientations and different types of soil, always seeking the freshness and balance typical of this wine.
Winemaking characteristics
Selection of the best vineyards of the Viura variety from the Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa subzones, where the ideal characteristics for vine cultivation are found.
After a cold maceration in the presence of the skins, the grapes are gently pressed and the must is taken to stainless steel tanks where it undergoes alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature. Once this process is finished, we clarify the wine for its subsequent bottling and release to the market.
Harvest data
The white grape harvest at CVNE this year began on Wednesday, September 8 with the Viura variety in our Torremontalbo vineyards and continued with the rest of the vineyards, ending on September 27.
This year, due to the drought and the high temperatures recorded, the condition of the grapes was not homogeneous at the time of harvesting, but differed depending on the situation of the plots, yields and other factors. In this context, ripening samples and grape tasting are particularly crucial for making decisions and starting the harvest at the right time.
The weather during the harvest has helped to maintain the excellent health of the grapes. In addition, the drop in temperatures that took place at the end of the harvest will help the ripening process to evolve well and allow us to make wines for cellaring.
