Viña Real Barrel Fermented
White wine from 20-year-old vineyards in Rioja Alavesa, made from selected Viura grapes and fermented in Hungarian and French oak barrels. It presents complex aromas of white flowers, sweet fruits and subtle notes of aging. In the mouth it is elegant, fresh and balanced, ideal for white meats and fish in sauce.

Characteristics of the vineyard
20 year old vineyards located in different areas of Rioja Alavesa, mainly in Elciego and Laguardia, with fresh, calcareous clay soils, grown in goblet and also on trellises, Viura grape variety.
Winemaking characteristics
Manual selection in the vineyard of the grapes at their optimum ripeness.
In the winery, the grapes are kept at 10ºC macerating with their skins for 12 hours in order to obtain a greater aromatic extraction in the final wine. After this time, a small pneumatic press separates different fractions and qualities of must. The drained must is used to make this wine, which ferments in Hungarian and French oak barrels of different capacities and years of use (between 1 and 3 years).
Once the alcoholic fermentation is finished, the wine remains in the barrel with the fine lees that we put in suspension by batonnage. We taste the wine weekly to control its evolution and determine the right moment to finish the aging on lees. At that moment the wine is racked, clarified and filtered before bottling.
Harvest data:
The year 2023 has been very complicated. After a very dry end of spring, rainfall in June alleviated the water stress on the vines. The summer passed with temperatures in line with the season until August 20, with an intense and prolonged heat wave that destabilized and paralyzed the development of the vines.
With time and the rains at the end of the summer, the vineyards recovered little by little.
We carried out a very selective harvest, picking the grapes according to the results of the ripening controls.
The white harvest began at Viña Real last September 13 and ended on October 7.
Tasting notes:
Excellent pale straw yellow color with light steely tones in the meniscus.
Aroma with interesting complexity. We find a great variety of white flowers and sweet fruit such as banana, pineapple, apple... All this, well complemented with aromas from barrel aging.
The palate begins with a smooth entry, sliding with a delicate and elegant structure that gives the wine a long evolution and complexity nuanced with fine spicy touches.
White meats and fish in sauce are ideal for extolling the properties of this great wine.
Serving temperature 8-10ºC.
