Cune Rosé
Cune Blanco Rosado is a wine made with Tempranillo grapes from vineyards in Rioja Alta, with clay loam soils and ages from 8 to 20 years. The harvest is manual and early, with controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fruity aromas. It has a strawberry red color, high aromatic intensity of red licorice, strawberries and raspberries, and a smooth, fresh taste.
Characteristics of the vineyard
Own vineyards in Rioja Alta, mainly in the area of Sajazarra, Cerecillo and Ascarza estates, with fresh, clay loam soils, goblet and trellis vines, E-W exposure.
Vineyards on medium vigorous soils and between 8 and 20 years old are used to produce this rosé.
Winemaking characteristics
Early, manual harvesting of Tempranillo grapes, and vatting in stainless steel tanks where fermentation is initially avoided by maintaining temperatures of 10-12ºC.
The must with the desired color is bled after a few hours of vatting. Fermentation is thus carried out without the solid phase of skins and pips, with a controlled temperature between 16ºC and 18ºC to maintain the aromas and fruit that characterize this wine.
Harvest data
The year 2023 has been complicated from the climatic point of view. After a very dry end to the spring, rainfall in June alleviated the water stress on the vines. The summer passed with temperatures in line with the season until August 20, with an intense and prolonged heat wave that destabilized and paralyzed the development of the vines, the vegetation and the ripening of the grapes.
Subsequently, the vineyards recovered little by little.
what was the harvest strategy?
We carried out a very selective harvest, picking the grapes in some plots, waiting in other cases and thanks to the work done by the entire team during the harvests we found the point of ripeness in the vineyard, where we looked for fruit, good acidity and balance for the production of the rosé.
Tasting notes
Strawberry red color.
High aromatic intensity that reminds us of youth. We find red licorice, strawberries and raspberries.
In the mouth it is a wine of easy entry. Its passage through the palate is smooth and marked by the unctuousness that gives it length and freshness. The retronasal is cheerful and fruity.
Ideal companion for appetizers, hors d'oeuvres, pasta, legumes, blue fish and light meats.
Recommended serving temperature 8-10ºC.
