Characteristics of the vineyard

Vineyards of our usual suppliers in the area of Haro and San Vicente, which in recent years have opted for organic cultivation of their vineyards. The soils are mainly calcareous clay, the fertilizers used are organic and of vegetable origin. The use of herbicides, synthetic pesticides and any cultivation practice that could damage or modify the natural balance in the soil and environment has been avoided.

Winemaking characteristics

Red wine obtained by organic viticulture and certified by the CPAER (ES-ECO-035-RI) with the number RI-1204-E-2020-1.

Manual harvesting of the Tempranillo, Grenache and Graciano varieties, each harvested at its optimum ripening moment.

Each variety was vinified separately, with minimal crushing and vatting in small concrete tanks. On arrival at the vats, the grapes are kept at 12ºC for 12 hours to prevent oxidation of the must and to maintain the liveliness of its color.

Alcoholic fermentation takes place naturally with indigenous yeasts, and we limit the use of additives such as sulfur. Fermentation is maintained at a temperature of 24ºC, preserving the aromas and aromatic expression of each variety. After malolactic fermentation, the wine has spent 6 months in 300-liter barrels before stabilization and bottling.

Harvest data

The weather in Rioja during the 2021 growing season was irregular. The summer began very dry but the rains in September were decisive for a very positive evolution. In the high and aerated areas, as well as in the vineyards of low and medium production, the grapes improved notably with the help of these rains. Perfect weather during the month of October, with sunny, bright days followed by very cold nights, led to slow ripening.

Healthy, well-balanced grapes with generally good acidity have allowed us to produce great wines with good cellaring potential.

Harvesting of the red grapes begins on September 16 and ends on October 21.

Tasting notes

Purple color due to its youth.

Good aromatic intensity with black fruits such as blackberries, blueberries and notes reminiscent of Mediterranean forests.

In the mouth it has a soft entry, its passage is round and enveloping with a silky tannin and a slightly acid finish that gives it a fresh, long and fruity aftertaste.

Recommended pairing with Mediterranean food, pasta, rice dishes, ham, all kinds of cheeses and meats.

Ideal drinking temperature between 16ºC and 17ºC.
