Nikweis Layet GG
The exceptional Layet estate covers an area of only 0.8 hectares, and its use for vines has been recorded since the Middle Ages. Considered one of the jewels of the Mosel, it impresses with its rocky outcrops and slate terraces, where vines up to 100 years old grow. The Mosel River, close and wide at this point, creates a warm and luminous microclimate that favors the growth of the vines, with very aromatic grapes and low yields.
This plot has the GG category, (Grosses Gewächs), similar to the Grand Cru of Burgundy, which defines it for its high quality identified for centuries.
Layet GG seduces with its earthy and spicy minerality, reminiscent of wet stones or the air after a summer storm. Aromas of ripe apples, peaches, and refreshing citrus notes complete its complex bouquet. The palate is delicate, with a silky structure and less reliance on primary aromas and more on typical reductive aromas, demonstrating the enormous aging potential. This dense Riesling will grow in bottle for years
