Cune Fruity Red Wine
This wine was born out of a desire to explore another side of Rioja: one that is juicier, more accessible, and simply inviting to enjoy. Here, ripe fruit takes center stage and expresses itself naturally, resulting in a friendly, silky, and pleasant red wine.
Vineyard Characteristics
This red wine is crafted from grapes grown in select vineyards in La Rioja, which face south to maximize sun exposure and are planted on loamy-clay soils. All vineyard work, from tending the vines to the harvest, is done by hand, ensuring the utmost respect for the raw material and the region’s winemaking tradition.
Winemaking Characteristics
When the grapes reach their optimal stage of overripeness, they are harvested by hand and carefully selected. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are transferred to stainless-steel tanks, where they ferment at a controlled temperature.
To preserve the natural residual sugar, fermentation is halted using physical methods such as racking, cooling, and filtration. In this way, the wine retains its balanced sweetness and is prepared for bottling.
This precise and respectful winemaking process seeks to extract and preserve the primary aromas of red and black fruits—blackberry and red currant—characteristic of varieties such as Garnacha and Tempranillo, with the contribution of Mazuelo, resulting in a profile where ripe, slightly stewed fruit takes center stage.
Tasting Notes
Bordeaux red in color, with medium depth and brilliant garnet hues.
On the nose, it displays medium aromatic intensity, marked by notes of ripe wild berries—blackberries and black currants—and stewed fruit. Its brief time in the barrel contributes elegant hints of vanilla and chocolate, accompanied by a subtle and refreshing balsamic touch.
On the palate, it has a smooth, sweet attack that gives way to a medium-bodied, rich wine with good volume. Its sweet tannins, well-balanced acidity, and silky texture that envelops the palate stand out. The finish is long, round, and distinctly fruity on the aftertaste.
Its smooth and silky profile makes it an ideal pairing for international cuisine and contemporary menus.
Recommended serving temperature: 15 °C.
