Heredad Arano Crianza

75cl Bottle - 2020

Heredad Arano Crianza is made with grapes from estate-owned vineyards in Moradillo de Roa, at an altitude of 1000 m on stony, sandy-loam soils. The 2020 manual harvest, marked by high rainfall and low temperatures, produced fresh wines after aging for 15 months in French oak barrels. Notable for its cherry red color, intense aromas of black fruit, coffee and cocoa, and a fresh, structured palate with silky tannins.

Characteristics of the vineyard

Wine made from grapes from Moradillo de Roa's own vineyards, more than 25 years old. 9 hectares, in the Blancares", "El Charco", "Presas", "Estepar", and "Pozuelo Pico" plots at an altitude of 1000 m in stony soils, with a continental climate.

These are terraces made up of gravels and silts, also with sandy loam textures. The depth of the soils is variable, with a medium-high level of limestone. On the surface, there is an abundance of boulders that favor ripening in an area of such extreme altitude and climate.

Winemaking characteristics

Grapes harvested by hand in 10 kg boxes, processed in stainless steel tanks with cold pre-fermentation maceration for 4 days, followed by alcoholic fermentation. Finally, malolactic fermentation is carried out, also in stainless steel tanks, and then barrel-aged for a minimum of 15 months in French oak barrels.

Selected yeast.

Harvest data

The 2020 campaign has been marked by a greater volume of rainfall as well as slightly lower temperatures than in other years, resulting in cooler wines. In a key stage such as ripening, both the slightly lower temperatures and the rainfall helped us to have a longer ripening period, resulting in a grape harvest that was calm and staggered, allowing for a good selection of grapes both in the field and in the winery.

The harvest took place at Bela between September 26 and October 19.

Tasting notes

High robe wine, bright and lively, cherry red color with violet background. Intense aromas of black fruit, coffee and pure cocoa, as well as hints of white flowers, characteristic of Tempranillo from the Ribera del Duero region of Burgos. Good balance of wood and fruit due to its long aging in barrels providing spicy, toasted and balsamic aromas, respecting the characteristic fruit of the variety. The palate has a fresh start, and silky tannins can also be appreciated that give way to roundness and structure. The finish is ample, long, leaving an intense memory of black fruit. Pairing with a wide range of dishes such as stews, stew, rice, fish in sauce. And all kinds of meats.

Recommended serving temperature 16-18ºC.
