Characteristics of the vineyard

The grapes used to make Maruxa Godello come from our own terraced vineyards in the village of Éntoma, from the Regueirón, O Follo, Valdemioto and Granilla plots, as well as from local suppliers in the same village. We harvest the grapes ourselves from these suppliers.

Éntoma is the southernmost area of Valdeorras, with vineyards close to the Galir and Sil rivers. The soil of Val do Galir is purely slatey and south facing, which results in a good ripening of the grapes from its vineyards due to the solar effect of the soil on the vine; however, the soils close to the Sil are more clayey, pebbly and north facing and tend to have a later ripening, which gives rise to grapes that produce wines with a more floral and sharp profile.

Winemaking characteristics

The grapes are harvested by hand in 15 kg boxes. The grapes are macerated in a refrigerated cooler and in tanks for 48 hours prior to alcoholic fermentation, which is carried out by the action of indigenous yeasts. To respect and promote the primary aromas, the grapes are destemmed without crushing.

This wine is aged in a stainless steel tank for three months on its lees.

Harvest data

The 2024 harvest was the coldest in the last ten years in the Valdeorras region. With shorter yields than the last harvest, the cycle went normally until the arrival of summer, which was characterized by cold nights and cool days. This allowed us to increase precision during the harvest in all our estates, and to lengthen this period in order to obtain optimal results and grapes with full alcoholic ripeness, with good Ph and acidity levels.

Tasting notes

Intense yellow color with a bright greenish rim. It has great aromatic intensity and a marked minerality. It combines aromas of ripe white fruits with herbal and scrubland touches. It is very balanced in the mouth, silky, elegant and fresh, long and persistent.

It harmonizes perfectly with fish, seafood and rice dishes.
