Contino Rosé
Contino Rosé comes from strong, long-lived vineyards, with Graciano grapes from the San Gregorio estate and Garnacha from the La Encina vineyard. The winemaking process includes manual harvesting, alcoholic fermentation in wooden vats, and subsequent aging in 500-liter barrels. The 2020 vintage, characterized by an early harvest and high rainfall, produced a raspberry pink wine, with elegant aromas of red fruits and floral notes, and a balanced flavor with a long, refreshing aftertaste.
Characteristics of the vineyard
Our rosé stands out for its characteristic strength, typical of the Contino vineyard. A strong, soulful and long-lived vineyard. It is here, where our Graciano vines, from the San Gregorio estate, offer us their grapes with great structure and acidity, excellent for Rosé Contino
In the same way, La Encina vineyard delights us with its ancestral Garnacha grapes, bringing freshness, fruit and youth to our wine.
Winemaking characteristics
Graciano and Garnacha grapes are harvested by hand in 500 kg. pallets. Both are vatted separately in wooden vats, where their alcoholic fermentation takes place. After vatting in their respective wooden vats, and with different maceration times (12 hours for Graciano and 16 hours for Garnacha), they are bled into 500-liter barrels where alcoholic fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 16-18ºC for 20 days, in order to preserve their organoleptic potential to the maximum.
Once finished, all the barrels are blended to obtain a special rosé. The mixture of graciano and garnacha, in their percentages, allows its subsequent ageing to be carried out in the most optimum way, in the same 500-litre casks where the fermentation has taken place.
Harvest data
The 2020 vintage has been an early harvest, where climate change is a visible fact and has made itself felt. An early harvest, with a very interesting ripening, marked by large yields in the vineyard. Marked by high rainfall, with above-average values. Prior to and during the harvest, there were episodes of rain. This resulted in a thickening of the berries and a consequent increase in bunch weight.
This season was characterized by moderate temperatures throughout the entire cycle.
Tasting notes
Intense raspberry pink color, very bright. Elegant aroma of red fruits, complemented by floral notes that give it finesse and freshness.
A pleasantly balanced rosé, with an extraordinary roundness in the mouth. Its volume and persistence stand out, with a refreshing finish and long aftertaste.
