The richness of Spanish vineyards is demonstrated in the adaptability of the different grape varieties. The alternation between valleys, mountains, and coasts, generates a multicolored mosaic of different styles of wines, from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean, from the Pyrenees to the slopes of Teide in Tenerife.
June is already vacation time, and for our monthly batch we have chosen three sea or mountain wines, three refreshing options capable of making you feel very different wine styles. Three delicious wines ideal for sharing and generating amazement. Happy summer of sea and mountain!
WHITE WINE OF SEA: Manzanilla Fina La Rubia
AREA: Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Andalusia, Spain
VARIETY: Palomino Fino
35 year old vineyards of the palomino variety in Pago Miraflores, a coastal vineyard historically dedicated to the production of manzanilla. The soils are white limestone, influenced by the sea breezes and morning dew known in Sanlúcar as blandura. This young manzanilla matures in Bodega Del Río, in Bonanza, located on the sands of the beaches at the mouth of the Guadalquivir River, facing the beautiful coasts of the Doñana Park. It is here where it continues its journey completing a final aging system of four criaderas and a solera with an average aging of four years. Manzanilla La Rubia is an exclusive wine from Montenegro - CVNE, a racial and powerful manzanilla of aromas, each bottle encloses the saline style of the traditional manzanillassanluqueñasmatured by the sea .
MOUNTAIN RED WINE: 7 Vidas 2023
AREA: Cangas, Asturias
VARIETY: Mencía and others
The Asturian winery VidAs, produces on the spectacular slopes of the mountains of Cangas, grapes of native varieties, mencía, albarín, or carrasquín, among others. With these varieties he makes his delicious Atlantic-style wines, wines with little color and refreshing acidity, ideal for drinking slightly cool during the warmer months. This 7 Vidas red is not barrel-aged and offers a range of red fruit aromas and mineral notes. Decanting is recommended before cooling to 12 degrees.

GRAPE VARIETY: Hondarrabi Zuri, Hondarrabi Beltza
The vineyards of the winery Ameztoi descend gently down the slopes of Getaria and reach almost to caress the waves of the Atlantic, receiving all the saline influence of the sea breeze. This seafaring character, the juicy acidity of the Txakoli, and the combination of a white and a red variety, blend to generate a delicious rosé perfect for pairing with fish and all kinds of seafood. One of the best options for drinking by the sea during the summer.
